"Herbie"

This 1963 VW is
easily recognized as "Herbie" The Love Bug, from the Walt Disney movie
filmed in 1968. The car
pictured was built as a tribute to the famous car. The
original Herbie that was used in the race scenes was equipped
with a 1720cc Porsche Super-90 motor rated at 9ohp DIN. The
engine in this Herbie is a 1915cc VW motor with about
110 hp and uses the original Porsche fan shroud, oil filter
and Zenith 32NDIX carburetors. The transmission is a "Pro
Street" model with a late 4.12:1 ring and pinion for better
highway cruising capability.
